Student Expectations
Walk on the right side of the stairs (unless otherwise directed) / third tile with a smile
Students follow teacher directions regarding teacher designated stopping points
No hand slapping (High 5’s)
Noise level is adequate as to not disrupt learning
Teacher Expectations
Teacher emphasizes hallway as a quiet zone; either no talking or a designated level of noise
Teacher communicates with colleagues in a timely manner if hallway noise level is disrupting learning
Teachers are to escort students all the way to their destination; watching students partway down the hall doesn’t count
Teacher will escort students at the middle of the line and may designate stop points along the way per their discretion
BATHROOMS
Student Expectations
Students are to follow appropriate behavior expectations in the hallway, and avoid conversations and horseplay in the bathrooms
Student are to immediately report any damage, messes, and inappropriate behavior observed to the teacher or other appropriate school adult
Teacher Expectations
Teachers are to maintain a classroom documentation process of when students have used the restroom during classroom time
Students may be sent individually or with a partner per teacher discretion
MORNING LINE UP
Student Expectations
The field and big toys are off limits before school
Students are lined up and quiet by the time the first bell rings
Teacher Expecations
All teachers/adults reinforce behavior expectations
All teachers present by 8:20 to pick up students
RECESS
Behavior slips—one copy to office, one copy to teacher, one to student for parent signature
ALL staff involved in making expectations clear
Playground supervisors escort students to door with teachers strategically located to supervise—voices off
Teachers may position themselves at various points of hall to monitor students when exiting building and/or entering building after recess
FIRE DRILL
Students are to complete evacuation of the building silently, walking in single file
Teacher Expectations
Teacher determines the best route from the blacktop to the field. Walking students down the hill is an option provided that weather conditions are acceptable
Upper floor may use both sides of stairwell, classes may walk double file
Teachers are to walk students back to the classroom following same behavior expectations used during the instructional day
If a grade level is to have recess immediately following a fire drill, teachers will keep students lined up until the other grade levels have entered the building
LUNCH ROOM
Students lined up by class in ABC order to purchase lunch—no talking in lunch line
Students are to sit by classroom
Students are to keep their lunch area clean
Students are to ask permission to stand up or walk around. This includes putting trays away. Students are to stay seated until they are dismissed for recess.
Teacher Expectations
Stacking chairs and moving tables will be coordinated by the custodian
Silent tables may be designated per teacher discretion
Students are dismissed by tables (one table at a time) by own classroom teacher
Teachers may begin dismissing students 8 minutes before their official recess
Buckets are placed on lower two stage stairs or on table and brought to area by designated students
Teachers need to be in commons the full half hour or until all students are dismissed, but should be able to leave on time
Lunchroom Set-Up and Clean-Up
Each table will have a maximum of 8 chairs. Extra chairs will be available as needed but will not exceed 10 chairs per table.
DISMISSAL
Talking level at dismissal time may be higher, but the same level of behavior expectations are in effect

Teachers/adults lead student groups to bus area
Teacher escorts students to appropriate exit door
Notify office of those students observed as not following set procedures (proactive)
Respectful behavior to all employees wearing a badge
Reporting of inappropriate actions/language to a staff member
